There are few places that truly are worthy of travel for the sake of the experience of staying there alone. The Crater Lodge is one of these, distinguished by its unique combination of style and setting. The design follows the Maasai mud-and-stick manyatta (homestead) style. The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is without doubt one of the most spectacular safari lodges in Eastern Africa.

Perched high on the Ngorongoro Crater rim, the Lodge overlooks one of the most fascinating volcanic calderas in the world, often called “Africa’s Eden”. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered to guests, and excursions to Olduvai Gorge.

The Crater Lodge provides extraordinary accommodation in a spectacular location. It is opulent and yet intimate, with no more than 12 guests in each separate ‘camp’. The rooms each have a central living area and viewing decks overlooking the Crater.

The Lodge is located between Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and the Serengeti Plains, with an airstrip nearby for charter flights.
